| Co-operative MacTavish Cup Final………….2 days To Go! | |
| 16 June 2010 As well as the MacTavish Cup Final between Kilmallie and Kingussie, there are two important junior finals on Saturday 19 June 2010. The MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final between Lochaber and Glenurquhart throws up around 2.45pm. This should be a keenly contested affair between 2 good sides. Lochaber’s strength is in their defence where both Danny Delaney at full back and Brenan MacDonald at buckshee back are formidable opponents. They are ably supported by wing backs Barrie MacDonald and Jack Dignan. Connor Sweeney in midfield and Stuart Callison in attack are both youngsters with first team experience. Glenurquhart’s strength is in attack where Daniel MacKintosh and Kelvin MacKenzie have already been amongst the goals this season. Ewan Brady is also a key player and he is still eligible for their U14 side. Josh Fraser and Ewen Menzies also add strength to their side. However the biggest match of the day is surely the Tulloch League National Final between Portree Primary School and Rockfield Primary School!! Portree entered the competition for the first time last season and won the event. They qualified for this year’s North semi finals as Skye Talisker League winners. Portree beat Lochaber to win the through to the North Final where they beat a good Kingussie side 4-2. Caitlin MacLean is an influential player for the Portree team as is James Pringle in midfield. The forward line of Johnny Laing, Stewart Taylor, Ben Nicolson and Connor Ross is always liable to get a goal. Rockfield Primary School from Oban have dominated the south shinty scene in recent years. They are no strangers to Portree with the sides having met in the MacKay Cup. This match also throws up at 2.45pm. The Co-operative MacTavish Cup Final at the Bught Park, Inverness throws up at 12.20pm. | |
