Shinty & The RockNess Effect. | |
12 June 2010 Several shinty clubs will have selection problems this weekend as players attend the annual RockNess Music Festival in Inverness. Skye Camanachd opted to choose this weekend as their free Saturday as they have several younger players attending the music event and some taking part in the annual Isle of Skye Half Marathon. Clubs based near the event such as Lovat have 2 important cup matches to fulfill this weekend and they are affected by player availability. Other clubs based further afield are also concerned and Kilmallie will be relieved that their second team game against Newtonmore is not going ahead. Kyles Athletic in the south are also understood to be affected but they have benefited from Skye’s decision to have a free Saturday as the club’s reserve sides were due to meet in the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup quarter finals. It remains to be seen how the day’s results will be influenced by the RockNess effect. |
