Strathglass & The SCOTS Remember Scott Bain. | |
27 May 2010 Strathglass will play army shinty side The SCOTS on the evening of Saturday 29 May 2010 at Cannich in a memorial to former player Scott Bain who died last year. Scott Bain died in a road accident the day after Strathglass won the 2009 Balliemore Cup Final against Kinlochshiel. Although he was not part of the cup final squad, Scott played shinty for both Strathglass and the army side. The Bain family will be in attendance at the tribute match and Scott’s brother Lee Bain, who plays for the Kingussie first team against Beauly in the MacTavish Cup semi final earlier in the day, hopes to take part in the match. There will also be a collection by some of the Strath’s younger players – many of whom were contemporaries of Scott and Lee – towards the purchase of a bench which they are planning to purchase in Scott’s memory. The bench will be sited near the shinty pitch at Cannich and the idea for this has come from the players themselves. The match will be the culmination of a feast of shinty at Cannich with no less than 3 matches taking place throughout the day and evening. The Strathglass second team start proceedings off when they welcome Ardnamurchan for their Marine Harvest North Division 3 match. Next up is the Strathglass first team who take on Inverness in Marine Harvest North Division 1 and this game has a 2.30pm throw up. The match between Strathglass and The SCOTS throws up at 7pm. |
