MacDonald Pleased With Debutants. | |
16 May 2010 Skye Camanachd first team manager Aonghas MacDonald was pleased with the performance of his debutants following his team’s 9-1 win over Marine Harvest South Division 1 side Taynuilt at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree in the quarter final of the Balliemore Cup on Saturday 15 May 2010.
“It was really pleasing to introduce another 3 players into the squad,” said MacDonald. “Iain Morrison started at wing forward and was involved right from the start. You have to say that a hat-trick on your first team debut is pretty impressive. We took defenders Andrew Banks and Martin Bruce on at the start of the second half for their first senior appearances. Both players have earned their chance and Martin has been an unused sub in a couple of squads already this season. They both looked comfortable and did everything asked of them.”
Expanding the size of the first team squad is something that has been important to MacDonald this season. “Injuries and unavailability have already seen us give 4 appearances each to Stewart Grant and Neil MacVicar this season. I was also delighted to hear that Danny Morrison scored a hat-trick for the second team earlier today.”
“I’m pleased that we are through to the Balliemore Cup semi finals although Kinlochshiel or Beauly will provide stiff opposition.”
Turning to today’s opponents, the Skye first team manager said, “I thought Taynuilt had some good players and their goal was a cracker. They were missing several players and that made things hard for them.”
Next weekend, Skye Camanachd host Kilmallie in the second round of the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup. “That will be a test and we hope to have a few players back for that one,” said MacDonald. |
