MacVicar Looks For Confidence Boost From Big Win. | |
02 May 2010 Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar hopes his players take confidence from their emphatic Strathdearn Cup first round win over Lewis Camanachd on Saturday 1 May 2010.
“We were stronger in the middle of the park than we have been in recent games,” said MacVicar. “This result gives us a bit of a lift and shows that we can score goals when we are creative up front.”
“It was good to see the likes of young substitutes Ally MacDonald and Ally MacLeod getting amongst the goals.”
“Lewis were stuffy opponents although they seemed to lose concentration at some points in the game. That’s to be expected though when you are not playing all the time. They played reasonably well in stages and entering the cup competitions affords them the opportunity to get established. I recall my former club Col Glen doing something similar years ago and it worked for them.”
The Skye second team now goes on a run of 5 successive away league fixtures, interrupted only by a home Sutherland Cup tie against Col Glen. First up is a trip to An Aird to play Fort William on Saturday 8 May 2010. |
