MacVicar Encouraged By Improved Performance. | |
25 April 2010 Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar took encouragement from his side’s improved performance following their 8-1 defeat to Kingussie at the Dell in Marine Harvest North Division 2 on Saturday 24 April 2010.
The young Islanders found themselves up against a vastly more experienced Kingussie side who included Camanachd Cup winners Rory Fraser, James MacLean, Michael Clark and Kevin Thain.
“We held our own for the opening half hour,” said MacVicar, “I must say that the improvement in performance was night and day compared to Glenurquhart last week. In fact if we had a goal scorer, the result could have been much closer.”
MacVicar had a long list of call offs to contend with. “Our defence had an average age of 16 and the boys competed well against their more experienced opponents. Ian Grant deserves a mention and he has looked good in the wing back position.”
The Skye second team now has a break from league action as they play Lewis Camanachd in the Strathdearn Cup. MacVicar said, “We will have a few players back which will help and possibly give us more attacking options.” |
