Skye Happy With First Point Of The Season. | |
04 April 2010 With Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar on holiday, Willie MacRae and Alasdair Bruce were happy to see the side pick up their first point of the season following their 1-1 draw with Kinlochshiel in Marine Harvest North Division 2 at Kirkton on Saturday 3 April 2010.
Speaking on Cuillin fm’s Sports Show after the match, Alasdair Bruce said that it was a game neither side deserved to lose. “We got off to a great start with Jordan Murchison scoring his first goal at this level in the opening minute but Shiel leveled 6 minutes later. Both teams were under-strength and there was an interesting contrast of styles between the young Skye side and their more experienced opponents.”
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Bruce said, “I though Neil MacVicar had a fine game at full centre and Ally MacDonald made a welcome return after illness. He came on 10 minutes into the second half and we looked a better team with him in the side. Ian Grant also showed his versatility, starting in the forward line and playing most of the second half in his favoured defensive role where he did very well.”
Looking added to next week, Bruce added, “The team will take the confidence from this performance into next weekend’s crucial Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup tie at home to Tayforth. The first team should have a couple players returning which will in turn give Davie MacVicar some additional selection options for the cup tie.” |
