MacVicar Pleased with Commitment Despite Defeat. | |
21 March 2010 Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar was pleased with the commitment shown by his young side despite their 6-1 defeat to Newtonmore in Marine Harvest North Division 2 at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 20 March 2010.
Speaking on Cuillin fm’s sports show after the game, MacVicar was not despondent. “It may have been another defeat,” he said, “but despite the score, I was pleased with the conviction, commitment and effort shown by the players. 16 year old Martin Bruce put in a super performance whilst 15 year old trio Shaun Hedley, Jordan Murchison and Ian Grant and 16 year old Daniel Morrison can be very pleased with their display.”
“All 3 of our substitutes were under 16,” he added, “which demonstrates that whilst injuries and first team call ups have left the squad short, this does present opportunities for others to stake a place in the side.”
“I would like to see the side develop a more physical attitude and we are perhaps lacking a couple of experienced players who would help the younger ones develop” he said.
