A 9 a side youth match between Skye Camanachd and Uist took place at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 13 March 2010.

It was particularly fitting that the first match that Skye Camanachd played following the passing of DR MacDonald should be against a side from his native Uist. DR was particularly happy that shinty had become strong again in North Uist and 2 of the visiting team were, like DR, from Tigharry. A minutes silence was observed before throw up.

It was a closer match than the 7-0 scoreline suggests with Skye only leading 2-0 at the half time thanks to goals from Alex MacDonald and Ross MacFarlane.

Ross MacFarlane added his second after the interval and Will Cowie made it 4-0.

Kyle Pirie made it 5-0 whilst Euan Forrest added a sixth.

Alex MacDonald, who started the scoring, netted the final goal of the game, making it 7-0 to Skye Camanachd.

Uist’s Ewen Campbell and Fasal Froughi are worthy of a mention for their excellent performances.

The Uist youngsters then stayed on to watch the Marine Harvest North Division 2 match between Skye Camanachd and Glengarry.
