| Memory Lane – Season 1986 / 87 – Part 55. | |
| 20 January 2010 Season 1986 / 87 - Skye Camanachd Make Pitch Plea. Both Skye Camanachd teams ended the season playing their home matches at Lochcarron’s Battery Park so that some extensive repair work could be carried out on the King George V Playing Field. Midway through the season, Skye Camanachd had met with the Camanachd Association to discuss a range of issues including the poor state of the King George V Playing Field. The club gained Camanachd Association support for their predicament and the club met with Skye & Lochalsh Chief Executive David Noble to air their concerns. The Council felt that the atrocious weather conditions and over-use were significant contributory factors to the field’s condition. Both parties agreed to continue the search for a new field and the King George V Playing Field closed before the end of the shinty season for essential pitch maintenance. | |
