Camanachd Association Appoint Chief Operating Officer. | |
16 January 2010 The Camanachd Association has confirmed that Torquil MacLeod has been appointed to the newly created post of Chief Operating Officer. MacLeod is currently Deputy Project Director for Homecoming Scotland 2009 where he has worked since September 2007. His responsibility includes the running of Homecoming Scotland’s Themed Events Programme as well as overseeing the management of the other funding programmes associated with the Homecoming Scotland 2009 project. This is a government funded initiative managed by EventScotland and VisitScotland. He previously worked as a Funding Manager for Highland 2007 between 2005 and 2007. He also has experience in sponsorship roles including Group Sponsorship Manager for HBOS and Sponsorship Manager for Sportscotland. He has also worked on a number of other high profile sporting and cultural events. He has a degree in Recreation Management and a postgraduate Diploma in Sport, Leisure and Physical Education The new role of Chief Operating Officer was advertised on a salary of £35,000 plus bonuses and responsibilities include;
Interestingly the post also includes identifying and developing opportunities to support member clubs in taking forward their own day to day business as organisations. The new post of Chief Operating Officer replaces the former role of Chief Executive which has been vacant since Gill MacDonald left the post in early April 2009. Mr MacLeod will take up his new role one year later following the Easter weekend on Tuesday 6 April 2010. His appointment will bring to an end the additional management support provided by sportscotland through interim Business Manager Bruce Crawford and also end Camanachd Association President Duncan tenure as Acting Chief Executive. |
