An Inter Celtic Congress match took place in Inverness on Saturday 25 July 1987.

This was an East v West match in which the Skye players played a prominent role.

The East led 4-1 at half time through a hat-trick from Lovat’s Donald Neil Murchison and a strike from Inverness player John MacKenzie with Skye’s Calum Murchison replying for the West.

However a second half strike from Skye’s Caley MacLean and a double from his club team mate Duncan MacDougall levelled the game.

The West’s winner was a Peter Gordon thunderbolt which flew into the net to give his side a 5-4 victory.
