Memory Lane – Season 1986 / 87 – Part 19. | |
08 December 2009 Kincraig were first footers to the King George V Park in Portree for this New Year league meeting. It had been 7 weeks since Archie MacDonald’s side had beaten Lochaber but they showed little sign of rustiness as they ran out comprehensive 6-0 winners. Skye benefited from some good hitting from Ally Grant in midfield and Ally MacInnes’ speed on the wing helped create several chances for his fellow forwards. John MacRae benefited most as he helped himself to his third hat-trick in 3 successive league matches. Skye promoted Juvenile player Angus “Mucky” Nicolson into the second team and he performed very well at left wing back. It took several excellent saves from Kincraig keeper Angus MacDowell to keep the first half scoring down and at the break goals from Ally “Digg” MacDonald and Ally “Mhor” Morrison (Portree) gave Skye a 2-0 half time lead. A 30 yard drive from John MacRae made it 3-0 after 55 minutes and Ally “Mhor” Morrison (Portree) scored his second 10 minutes later. A couple of late John MacRae strikes completed his hat-trick to make the final score 6-0. Skye remained at the top of the table and their next match was a trip to the Eilan to face Newtonmore. |
