07 December 2009 Skye took the field against Glenurquhart just 7 days after knocking them out of the Macaulay Cup with a 3-1 win in Portree. Skye were without Caley MacLean and Willie “Winkie” MacKenzie and their performance never reached the heights of the previous week. Defences were generally on top and the chances which were created were spurned by both attacks. Ian “Dowel” MacLeod was in formidable form in the Skye goal, making a series of telling saves in each half. The nearest Skye came to scoring was a Calum Murchison effort which was cleared off the line and a Duncan MacDougall shot which was well saved by Glenurquhart keeper Billy MacLeod late in the game. In the end the game finished goalless and the points were shared. Although they didn’t know it at the time, this was Skye’s last match of 1986. Indeed as the winter weather kicked in, it would be |
