Memory Lane – Season 1986 / 87 – Part 11. | |
03 December 2009 The Skye second team gained some revenge for the humbling suffered by the first team when they beat the Newtonmore second team 6-0 at the King George V Park, Portree. Skye took the lead after just 12 minutes when a great cross-field ball from Ally “Mhor” Morrison (Kyleakin) split the Newtonmore defence and Angie Murchison nipped in to score. Murchison made it 2-0 from close in just 10 minutes later as Skye pounded the ‘More goal. Newtonmore keeper Simon Turnbull made 2 good saves from long range efforts but on each occasion, the Skye forwards reacted first with Ally MacInnes and Ronnie Reid helping themselves to a goal apiece which Skye a 4-0 half time lead. John MacRae made it 5-0 and Angie Murchison completed his hat-trick to make the final score 6-0 to Skye. There was another strong display from the Skye centre line as Ally “Digg” MacDonald, Ally “Mhor” Morrison (Kyleakin) and Ally Grant dominated the game. Angie Murchison continued an impressive scoring run in Portree and his 3 goals took his King George V tally to 7 league goals in 3 matches. Ronnie Reid was also a stand-out as he put in his best performance of the season. The result keeps Skye in second place in the table. Skye’s next match is at home to Kincraig. |
