Beauly Prepare For 2010 Lovat Cup. | |
03 December 2009 At a time when most shinty club’s are looking forward to an end of season break, Beauly Shinty Club has started training for one of the most fiercely fought trophies in shinty – the Lovat Cup. The 2010 meeting between Beauly and Lovat takes place at Balgate, Kiltarlity on Saturday 2 January 2010, with a 1pm throw up. Lovat won the 2009 clash between the sides with a 2-1 win against their oldest rivals in front of a huge crowd at Beauly’s Sean Stewart put Beauly ahead after 20 minutes but Ryan Ferguson equalised for Lovat just 15 minutes later. Jimmy MacKenzie put Lovat ahead a minute before the break and this proved to be the winning goal. Marine Harvest North Division 1 champions Lovat will start this year’s match as favourites. However Beauly first team manager Stephen “Murph” MacLean has selected a pool of 18 players. Who he will work with through the winter and who he believes have the potential to wrestle the famous trophy back. |
