29 November 2009 Lochaber Camanachd made their 2009 Player of the Year awards at their Annual Dinner Dance on Saturday 28 November 2009. Over 120 people attended a fantastic evening where the guest speaker was Philip Nolan of Tanera Camans. First team full back James MacRae was rewarded for his outstanding displays this season with the senior Player of the Year Award. Forward Ryan Toal won the second team Player of the Year award. Toal is also a prominent member of the successful Lochaber U17 side. Ben Delaney beat off competition from Cammy Kennedy and his brother Danny Delaney to win the U17 Player of the Year award. This rounds off a season where he captained the Lochaber U17s to the MacTavish Juvenile Cup and established himself as a member of Ally Ferguson’s first team squad. Delaney also represented the Barry MacDonald was named U14 Player of the Year and he saw off competition from the likes of Jack Dignan and Calum MacDonald. MacDonald was a main-stay in the Lochaber side which won the U14 North Division 3 Shield and he was named on the North U14 squad reserve list for the annual match against the In Ladies shinty, the Girls Player of the Year was Mairi MacRae and Sophie Duncan was named Most Improved Girl. |
