MacKenzie Reflects on Last Gasp Defeat. | |
02 November 2009 Scotland Head Coach Fraser MacKenzie reflected on the narrow 11-14 defeat to MacKenzie said, “The game was very close we both had spells of pressure. We could have run away with it mid way through the first half but they came out in the second half and played very well but credit to our boys they fought hard to draw level. Had we taken our chances in the first half we would have won the game but it was just not to be this time round. I was gutted not to get the penalty at the end.” MacKenzie has no doubt what the win meant to the Irish. “People have questioned how much this game means to the Irish” he said, “They just had to take a look at the Irish lads at the end of the game to see how much it meant to them.” A noisy crowd of close to 2,000 generated a great atmosphere at the MacKenzie added, “I was very proud of the Scottish players. They gave it their all and gave the crowd and TV audience a great game.” Match report to follow. |
