19 October 2009 The Skye Camanachd second team went down to a 5-3 defeat against David Grant took charge of the side as manager Davie MacVicar was on holiday. Skye Camanachd travelled to play last season’s champions However the Islanders were boosted by the return of captain Ross Graham in goal and Scott Martin also returned to the side. Veteran Murdo Morrison returned to help out the side as did Thomas Butler. U17 goalkeeper Scott MacLeod played in defence, Jordan Murchison and Daniel Morrison made their first start for the second team whilst 14 year old Calum Gibb made hiss second team debut. Skye suffered a blow when James Cameron gave the home side the lead on 22 minutes but Angie MacDonald levelled a minute from the break. Cameron bagged his second goal 6 minutes into the second half and he completed his hat-trick on 71 minutes. Skye substitute Thomas Butler had to succumb to a previous knee injury and he was replaced by Murdo Morrison. Cameron made it 4-1 just 3 minutes later and he found the back of the net for the fifth time 10 minutes from the end. However Skye went down fighting as 14 year old Calum Gibb, introduced in place of Daniel Morrison, marked his second team debut with a goal after 82 minutes whilst Angie MacDonald scored his second goal 3 minutes later as the Fort emerged 5-3 victors. Although his side were beaten, David Grant must have been delighted with the effort and performance from his make-shift side.
