15 October 2009 There is another exciting shinty programme set for Saturday 17 October 2009. In the Scottish Hydro Premier League, all 4 matches take place in the South. Reigning champions Kingussie play their game in hand over leaders Newtonmore when they travel to Rothesay to play Glenurquhart travel to Tighnabruaich to play Kyles Athletic. The Glen were 5-0 winners when the sides met at Drumnadrochit in May but this should be a much closer affair. Both sides are battling it out with Oban Camanachd and Lochaber meet at Mossfield. An Andy MacDonald double helped Lochaber to a 4-1 victory when the sides met at There is a repeat of the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final as Lovat are only 2 victories away from the Marine Harvest North Division 1 title and a return to the top flight. They host bottom club Lochcarron at Balgate this weekend and play second bottom Strathglass travel west to play Kinlochshiel at Kirkton. Both sides have 15 points in the league with the Wester Ross side having a game in hand. A Keith MacRae double and a strike from his brother John MacRae cancelled out a brace from Strathglass player / manager Garry Reid to give Shiel a 3-2 win when the sides met at Cannich in August. In Marine Harvest South Division 1, Ballachulish and Kilmory attempt to play at Inveraray and Tayforth will try and play again at Winterton. Tayforth have had team raising difficulties of late and they have yet to win a point this season. This match has a 12 noon throw up. The Marine Harvest North Division 2 fixtures see the league’s 5 bottom club’s in action. Bottom club Caberfeidh host third bottom Kilmallie at Castle Leod. Defeat for Cabers coupled with a Kinlochshiel win will see Caberfeidh relegated. Kinlochshiel play Newtonmore at Kirkton. Shiel will be desperate for the points but the face a ‘More side which has won its last 6 games including victory over champions Glenurquhart in their last outing. This match has a 12 noon throw up. Skye Camanachd travel to An Aird to play last season’s champions The match between Glengarry and champions Glenurquhart has been removed from the fixture list. Marine Harvest South Division 2 champions Taynuilt travel to Dalmally to play Glenorchy. Taynuilt have done terrifically well since reforming 2 years ago and they are the only side in shinty with a 100% record. Goals from Willie Gillies and Willie Neilson gave Taynuilt a narrow 2-1 win when the sides met earlier in the season. Willie Gillies will be Taynuilt’s danger-man once again.
