Scotland Head Coach Speaks Of Ronald Ross Return. | |
08 October 2009 Scotland Head Coach Fraser MacKenzie has explained the background to Ronald Ross’s return to the international fold for the shinty / hurling international against MacKenzie reflected on the lead up to Ross’s return and said, “In the build up to the squad session, it became clear that we had some injury issues with some key forwards and I felt we needed to do something about this. So I took the opportunity to speak to Ronald and see if he would help out and thankfully he as agreed.” MacKenzie clearly has admiration for the games most iconic player. “In my eyes, and in any unbiased true shinty supporters’ eyes, Ronald is simply the best shinty player there has been. I don’t just mean in goal scoring terms either as he is a player who week in week out gets some very harsh treatment from defenders. However he can cope with this with his talent and he never reacts. Yes he gets frustrated like any normal player but he is a player every young shinty player should use as a role model.” |
