The only match which looked likely to go ahead in the Scottish Hydro Premier Division was between Kyles Athletic and Kingussie. However the game did not actually start as match referee Colin MacDonald deemed the Tighnabruaich pitch unplayable. Kyles Athletic had kept a watchful eye on their pitch on Friday 2 October 2009 and carried out a Saturday morning pitch inspection after which they declared their pitch playable. With Lovat keeper MacDonald dashing out of his goal, Ally MacLennan kept his composure and lifted the ball high into the net to give Skye the lead. A 57 minute shot from Jimmy MacKenzie was saved by Gannon at the expense of a corner. Skye then failed to clear the corner and Fraser Gallagher’s 25 yard effort took a deflection as it flew past the helpless Gannon into the net. Skye were awarded a penalty on 71 minutes when a Shockie MacLennan corner from the right was kicked by Lovat’s Lorne MacKay.
