Glengarry and Badenoch & Strathspey came out on top in the Womens Shinty Finals Day at Spean Bridge on Saturday 12 September 2009.
Glengarry won the Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup with a 2-1 win over rivals Tir Conaill Harps. Fiona Cummings scored Glengarry’s opener and Skye’s Sarah Corrigal scored what proved to be the winner.
This was sweet revenge for the ‘Garry Girls who lost out to Harps in the 2008 Final. It’s also the first time Glengarry have won the famous competition since 2005.
Glengarry’s Beth MacDonald was named Spirit of the Cairngorms Player of the Match which is sponsored by Newtonmore’s Dave Fallows.
Earlier in the day, Badenoch & Strathspey beat Cowal & Bute 2-1 to win the Caledonian Canal Challenge Cup.
Cowal & Bute’s Katie Walker was the Player of the Match.
