The Skye Camanachd B U14 side travelled to Uist on Friday 28 August 2009 for the final round of fixtures of the Development section which includes Lochcarron and Uist.
Unfortunately Lochcarron were unable to make the trip but Skye, who had already qualified as group winners, played Uist at Lionacleit in what was an historic occasion.
The sides played a 45 minute first half and a 35 minute second period on a large pitch which was in great condition. A strong wind blew across the field
Skye thought they had the lead after 8 minutes when Will Cowie stabbed the ball into the net but the goal was ruled out for offside. Skye keeper Chris Campbell made a good save from a 20 yard Ewen Campbell shot 4 minutes later.
It was then the turn of Uist keeper Robbie Anderson to show his worth when he saved well from Ally MacCrimmon on 14 minutes.
Will Cowie had the ball in the net again a couple of minutes later but again, the strike was ruled offside.
The visitors took the lead after 19 minutes. Skye wing centre Rammie Orr played a great cross in from the left and Ian MacPherson slotted the ball past Anderson to give his side the lead.
Skye doubled their lead a couple of minutes later when Ally MacLeod finished from a DJ Gilpen cross.
On 27 minutes a good turn from Will Cowie made space from himself and he netted to make the score 2-0.
A couple of minutes later, Anderson saved well from a Gilpen shot and Ally MacLeod scored his second goal of the game.
Uist captain Ewen Campbell was their main goal threat – even from midfield and he tested Chris Campbell again a couple of minutes later but the Skye keeper was up to the challenge.
Ally MacLeod completed his hat-trick on 36 minutes to make it 5-0 and Will Cowie notched his second a couple of minutes before the break.
Ally MacLeod made the half time score 7-0 to the visitors when he scored right on half time.
Ally MacLeod scored twice in 3 minutes on 53 and 55 minutes to give Skye a 9-0 lead. This completed an impressive doubled hat-trick from MacLeod and the youngster was a threat in front of goal the whole match.
Robbie Anderson made a good save from Alex MacDonald after 65 minutes and DJ Gilpen scored a deserved goal fine his good all-round play to make the score 10-0.
Ally MacCrimmon blasted the ball into the roof of the net after 75 minutes to get his name on the score sheet.
A fantastic run from Uist’s Ewen Campbell resulted in his looping 25 yard shot landing on the roof of they net when he undoubtedly deserved a goal.
Alex MacDonald made it 12-0 from a corner to complete the scoring.
Uist have perhaps performed better in their visit’s to Skye and Lochcarron and perhaps the occasion of having a visiting side come to Lionachleit for the first time affected some of the players. They were well served by Robbie Anderson who was tidy in goal and full back Ian Carr. Sean Brady also did well in attack but there top performer was Ewen Campbell who would certainly be comfortable playing at a higher level that Development shinty.
