25 August 2009 The Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup semi final between Kingussie and Kyles Athletic is the match of the day on A place in the Scottish Hydro Electric Camanachd Cup Final against holders With Kingussie in cup action, Newtonmore have the chance to extend their lead over their Badenoch rivals at the top of the Scottish Hydro Premier Division. The men from the Eilan host Lochaber and they are in fine form having scored 8 goals with only one in reply in away league outings over the last fortnight. This will be a tough test for the young Lochaber side who suffered a heavy defeat the last time they visited Speyside. Interestingly, this will be the first senior match played in Badenoch since 25 July 2009. ‘More have won their last 4 league games and the sides have year to meet this season. However Newtonmore won 3-1 at the Eilan when the sides met in the MacTavish Cup. MacPhee & Partners Macaulay Cup winners Inveraray host bottom club Glenorchy at Winterton. With the excitement of 2 major cup wins this season behind them, Inveraray now need to start winning points in the league as they currently sit third bottom – just 2 points above the relegation positions. They will look for Garry MacPherson to carry on his recent good form and they will see the visit from already relegated Glenorchy as an ideal chance to add to their point’s total. There will be an interesting tussle at Drumnadrochit where Glenurquhart play Oban Camanachd. Oban had a narrow 3-2 win when the sides met at Mossfield. Although the Glen are third and Oban are sixth in the table, the sides are only separated by one point and Oban have 3 games in hand. Caberfeidh have the chance to top the Marine Harvest The match of the day in this division could be at Balgate where Lovat and Strathglass – the sides relegated from the 2008 National Premier Division – meet. Strathglass have lost their last 2 league outings and Garry Reid’s side know that they can’t afford any more slip ups in the race for the title. Lovat have enjoyed 5 consecutive wins in the league since they drew 0-0 with Third place Kilmallie should be too strong for Lochcarron when the sides meet at Canal Parks. Kilmallie won 4-1 when the sides met at Battery Park earlier this month. Inverness will be without the suspended Sandy Tulloch when they play Beauly at Glasgow Mid Argyll must beat Oban Celtic at Yoker in Marine Harvest South Division 1 or Lochside Rovers will be crowned champions. The sides also met in their last league outing earlier this month with Mid Argyll running out 3-2 winners in Oban with goals from Ian Luke, Gary Luke and Mark Bain. Fifth place Inveraray host bottom club Tayforth at Winterton and this match has a 12 noon throw up. Inveraray won 4-2 when the sides met in There are 4 matches in Marine Harvest North Division 2 and they all throw up at Third place League leaders Glenurquhart play Newtonmore at Drumnadrochit. The home side will miss Ben Hosie who is off to Kilmallie will be keen to pick up both points when they play Caberfeidh at Canal Parks. Kilmallie are eighth and Cabers sit ninth in this ten team league and they are only separated by a couple of points. Cabers came out on top when the sides met at Castle Leod in June. Glengarry make the short journey to play bottom club Kinlochshiel at Kirkton. The sides have yet to meet in the league this season. Marine Harvest South Division 2, runaway leaders Taynuilt put their 100% record to the test when they host fourth place Kyles Athletic. Third place Aberdour are at home to second bottom Glenorchy. Aberdour scored 9 goals against Strachur last week with Scott Rodger scoring 7 goals. Fifth place Col Glen travel to Rothesay to play sixth place Glasgow Mid Argyll take on bottom club Ballachulish at Yoker. Mid Argyll won 6-1 at Its second top plays bottom in Marine Harvest North Division 3 as Kincraig travel to Ullapool to play Lochbroom. Lochbroom ran out 7-2 winners when the sides met in April and they need to win to keep the pressure on leaders Beauly. The visitors have had team raising problems this season and they haven’t had a scheduled fixture since they lost 11-1 at home to Beauly on 18 July 2009. League leaders Beauly travel to Lochcarron and Boleskine meet at Battery Park. The sides drew 1-1 at Farr earlier in the season although Boleskine have since built up a 5 point lead over their rivals in the league table. Inverness host Strathglass at the |
