MacPhee & Partners Macaulay Cup Final………….1 Days To Go. | |
20 August 2009 The MacPhee & Partners Macaulay Cup Final takes place at Mossfield Oban on Saturday 22 August 2009. The Final pits the North finalists Kingussie against the South’s finalists, Inveraray. At the risk of stating the obvious, Inveraray’s chances of success will depend on how effectively they can deal with Kingussie talisman Ronald Ross or if they can at least cut off the supply to the game’s top scorer. Inveraray will rely on the goal threat from Garry MacPherson and Grant Griffen. The Kings will have keeper Andrew Borthwick available for selection again on his return from holiday and manager Jimmy Gow must decide whether to restore Borthwick or continue with Craig Dawson in goal. The Kings are amid a series of vital games including Kyles Athletic in their Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup semi final next weekend and a series of forthcoming Scottish Hydro Premier Division games. However Inveraray also have 7 league fixtures to play. Kingussie won 4-2 when the sides met at Winterton in May – their only clash this season. Garry MacPherson and David Robertson scored for the home side but they were out-done by a Ronald Ross hat-trick and a Louis Munro strike. It might be a good omen for the Badenoch men that the MacPhee & Partners Macaulay Cup Final referee Colin MacDonald also officiated that day. The 2009 MacPhee & Partners Macaulay Cup Final throws up at 2.10pm and will be shown live on BBC2 Scotland. The television coverage starts at 1.45pm.
