18 August 2009 The MacPhee & Partners Macaulay Cup Final takes place at Mossfield Oban on Saturday 22 August 2009. The Final pits the North finalists Kingussie against the South’s finalists, Inveraray. Holders Inveraray started the defence of their trophy against Kyles Athletic at Winterton on 4 July 2009. Grant Griffen got the home side off to a great start with a goal after 2 minutes. Their joy was short lived though as On Friday 17 July 2009 Inveraray joined Kingussie, Lochaber and Oban Camanachd in the MacPhee & Partners Macaulay Cup semi finals following their 2-0 win over South sides Inveraray and Oban Camanachd met at Taynuilt on 25 July 2009 in the South semi final. Inveraray won the Celtic Society Cup Final meeting between the sides however Oban Camanachd won an earlier league meeting. Chris Crawford put Inveraray ahead after 25 minutes and Stuart Robertson doubled their lead 5 minutes before the break. Aiden MacIntyre reduced the deficit on the hour mark but Inveraray held on to clinch a final place. Oban Camanachd’s had Liam MacIntyre red carded in the 86 minute – he had only just returned from suspension following his sending off in the Celtic Society Cup Final. The 2009 MacPhee & Partners Macaulay Cup Final throws up at 2.10pm and will be shown live on BBC2 Scotland. The television coverage starts at 1.45pm. |
