Fort William booked their place in the 2009 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final with a 4-1 win over Bute on Saturday 15 August 2009.
The first half was goalless, but it was current champions Fort William who broke the deadlock 5 minutes into the second half when Gary Innes found the back of the net from the penalty spot after Victor Smith had been fouled in the area. Innes added a second 3 minutes later and he completed his hat-trick on 72 minutes when he beat several Bute defenders and slotted the ball past the keeper for a 3-0 lead.
Hector Whitelaw pulled a goal back for Bute on 79 minutes but a Bryan Simpson strike on 82 minutes confirmed the current holders a place in the 2009 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final. This is the seventh consecutive year that Fort William have reached the final of shinty's top competition.
