Camanachd Association Co-opt Two New Voting Directors. | |
07 July 2009 The Camanachd Association has announced the appointment of two new Directors. Jim Barr will take up the post of Finance Director. Mr Barr is chairman of Glenurquhart Shinty Club and has actively participated in shinty since his schooldays with Glenurquhart and Aberdeen University. He was a founding Chairman of Abriachan Forest Trust and brings with him experience of establishing a not for profit company limited by guarantee. He also has experience of managing a large budget for an oil company. Mr Barr said, “I look forward to working with the Camanachd Association President, Directors and Staff with a view to keeping shinty on a sound footing for future generations to play and enjoy as much as I personally do." Graeme MacMillan from Inverness will take up the post of Youth Director. Mr MacMillan has been involved in youth shinty for the last 28 years in Fort William, Inverlochy, Fife and Inverness. He has played at the top level for Fort William and Scotland since the age of 17. He is currently Fort William shinty club assistant manager. Camanachd Association President Duncan Cameron said, “Both new Directors bring wide experience of their remits and shinty and I am confident they will make a positive contribution to the work of the Board and the Association.” The Camanachd Association Board can be made up of · 7 elected non-executive members, two of who retire each year in rotation and can serve a maximum of two terms (6 years) in office.
All Board positions are voluntary and no remuneration is attached to any of these positions (other than the CEO as an employee of the organisation).
