The Marine Harvest Clash of the Camans - 4 days To Go! | |
16 June 2009 The Camanachd Association has issued a briefing to the participating clubs for the Marine Harvest Clash of the Caman at An Aird, Camanachd Association Operations Manager Astie Cameron has issued the following information to the participating Clubs. “This new event replaces the old Marine Harvest North v South Representative match which had been the format for a number of years. Unfortunately it had lost its appeal and there were concerns from both Marine Harvest & Television coverage is going out live on There were a number of discussions between the Board Members last year regarding a Champion of Champions event and this is where the idea of the Clash of The Camans originated from. At the last Board Meeting it was agreed that the format would be to have a Senior & Junior event as well as the Ladies Match & to include a youth match also. This all leads to quite a packed day especially as the 2008 Marine Harvest Awards will also be made at The Pipe Band will leave Fort William High Street at 11.30am arriving at An Aird at 11.50am by which time teams should be available to meet with both Duncan Cameron President of the Camanachd Association and Allan Sutherland from Marine Harvest. The schedule of matches are enclosed and they will be played under normal Camanachd Rules with any disciplinary points only affecting other competitions i.e. points will not be added to the normal disciplinary points recording. There will be no extra time in any match with penalties to decide matches in the event of a draw.”
