Compose A Shinty Pipe Tune Competition. | |
05 June 2009 This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Isle of Skye Primary Schools’ Camanachd Association and The Skye Schools’ ASG are organising a cultural event based around the sport of shinty this September. As part of the musical dimension, primary and secondary pupils are being asked to compose a pipe tune that they feel demonstrates the energy and cultural importance of the sport for this area. Rules of the Competition · The tune must be new and original and written by pupils themselves. · The pupil writing the tune will be expected to play the tune. · The tune can be a 2 or 4 part tune. · The tune must be given an appropriate title which will also be considered as part of the judging process. Categories and Prizes Primary winner £25.00 prize Secondary winner £25.00 prize Overall winner Additional £25.00 prize The winning tune will also be framed and displayed in the Skye Camanachd Social Club.
