Portree Primary School won the 2009 MacKay Cup Final at Mossfield, Oban on Saturday 30 May 2009.

Portree Primary School beat South winners Rockfield Primary School 8-1 in the Final. Andrew Grant scored 4 goals and won the Anne Cameron Memorial Quaich for being the man of the match. Captain Will Cowie bagged a double and Angie Grant and James Pringle scored one each.

Portree beat Inverlochy 10-1 in the first round. They then had a walk-over against Fort William RC who decided not to travel to Portree. They saw off Tomnacross 11-0 at Kirkton in the North semi final and beat Lochaber 13-0 in the North Final.

This means that they have scored a total of 42 goals in their 4 matches and have only conceded 2 goals.

Portree Primary School have now won the MacKay Cup Final on 4 previous occasions – 3 times in the last 5 years.

They first won the tournament in 1974 when they beat Caol in the final. It was another 31 years before Portree were to win the competition again, beating Park 2-1 in Oban. They beat Rockfield in the final last year and repeated their success against the same side this year.
