The Portree Primary School entry in the 2009 MacKay Cup match programme isas follows;

Portree Primary's team of 2009 is made up of P6 & p7 which is quite unusual in any Primary team. The team has been coached by Willie Cowie over recent years with assistance from Neil Maclean and other coaches throughout this period.
 
The expectations were that this team would have the potential to be very successful this year considering that the core of this team has been together since P1.

There was an excellent home win against a very competitive Inverlochy team in the first round. This was followed by another strong performance against a very young and enthusiastic Tomnacross side over in the wonderful setting of Battery Park, Lochcarron.

The North Final was also played in Lochcarron and with perhaps the best performance to date, Portree played some exciting shinty to beat a very determined Lochaber side.
 
Portree Primary are once again really looking forward to the Mackay Cup final in Oban. The 2008 final was also against Rockfield  and was a great advert for shinty.

We hope to provide another entertaining and sporting encounter  with Rockfield Primary School.
