28 May 2009 Portree Primary are through to the MacKay Cup Final are through to the MacKay Cup Final after they beat Lochaber 13-0 in the North Final at Battery Park, Lochcarron on Wednesday 27 May 2009. After a very even first 10 minutes Portree began to take control of the midfield and were providing a good supply of ball for their forwards. There was some fine inter-play between the forwards and they started to take advantage of their possession and the Grant cousins - Angie with 4 goals and Andrew with 2 goals - gave Portree a 6-0 half time lead. Portree then substituted both Grants and Cowie to give the other squad players an opportunity. In their place came Sean Stevenson, James Pringle and Thomas Deas who was a last minute replacement for Connor Ross who was unwell. Lochaber had their best spell of the game during the final period and were unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions. Thomas Deas completed the scoring with a remarkable 3 goals in the last 10 minutes. This was not only his first game for the A Team but also his first game as a forward. This is a rematch of the 2008 MacKay Cup Final which was a fantastic game of shinty. Portree might start as favourites but with Rockfield having home advantage this could be another close fought match. Portree Primary School from; I.P.
