Newtonmore shinty players Glen Tonkin and David Campbell have appealed to shinty fans to help get a fund raising event in Newtonmore for Marie Curie Cancer Care to number one on YouTube.

Glen and David thanked race sponsors and every individual who has donated to the fund so far. There will a Horse Race night on the 9 May 2009 in the Newtonmore Village Hall. A cycle in Ireland had to be cancelled due to a lack of numbers but a 400+ KM challenge in the Canadian Rockies is planned.

The YouTube video clip has already had 600 viewings and it has four aims;

• To use the internet for a good cause.

• To get more hits on you tube than Susan Boyle!

• To get “Jock Paul’s bike into the charts”

• To get space hopping into the London 2012 Olympics.    

As you will see in the clip, this could be a very popular spectator sport;
