27 March 2009 The Camanachd Association has announced that this year's Scotland Under 21 International Head Coach will be Skye Camanachd's Donnie Martin. Martin has been coach for the last two years. He missed last seasons match because of a holiday which was booked when it had been suggested that the U21 match would not go ahead. However Martin was instrumental in raising funds for the game to be played although the Scots side eventually lost out to their Irish counter-parts. Fort William's David Stafford and Ted McDonald from Bute have been re-appointed as Martin's Assistant Coaches. The coaching team will immediatly start preparing for the Shinty / Hurling International in October 2009 in Inverness. The Camanachd Association's Coaching and Performance Manager, Graham Cormack said "The management team will be meeting in the near future to begin the planning of a preparation programme and it is expected that with these appointments the Scottish team will continue to develop and hopefully succeed in the International." |
