Skye Camanachd 3 Beauly 1. | |
22 March 2009 Skye Camanachd sit proudly on top of Marine Harvest North Division 1 following their 3-1 win over Beauly at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 21 March 2009. Skye opened the match strongly and Norman MacLeod gave the Islanders the lead after 13 minutes when he received a pass from a free hit and tucked the ball into the net. MacLeod has had an 8 year gap from the game and whilst his fitness has never been in doubt, he also seems to have found his touch and he was a constant threat to the Beauly defence throughout the game. Somhairle MacDonald made it two just a couple of minutes later with a smart shot into the bottom corner of the net. Sean Stewart pulled a goal back for Beauly on the half hour mark and it took two excellent saves from Skye keeper Jamie Gannon to preserve Skye's interval lead. Skye opened the second half strongly but they didn't extend their lead until 67 minutes and it was Somhairle MacDonald again who found the net. Skye held on to secure the win and they were well served by Somhairle MacDonald, Gilleasbuig MacDonald, Kerr Gibb, and Jamie Gannon. Skye Camanachd from; Jamie Gannon, Steven Morrison, Ian Nicolson, Dougie Rankin, Allan MacLeod, Jamie MacDonald, Gilleasbuig MacDonald, Kerr Gibb, Somhairle MacDonald, Ally MacLennan, (Shockie MacLennan), Kenny Campbell (captain), Norman MacLeod, subs Willie MacRae, John Moir not used
