| Portree Win Girls Primary School Dewar Shield. | |
| 20 March 2009 Portree Primary School came out on top in the Girls' Dewar Shield competition, played in Kyleakin on Friday 20 March 2009. A total of five teams took part in the competition and they all contributed to a fantastic evening's entertainment for the crowd. Each side played each other twice and Portree and Lochcarron both received particular encouragement from their coaches Peter Gordon and Laura MacKay. Portree won all their games, with the exception of a no score draw with a plucky Struan side, meaning they finished in top spot. A young Lochcarron squad, which featured several Primary 3 pupils, did really well to finish runners-up. However all of the teams deserve credit for a great night's shinty and so Bracadale, Elgol, and South End certainly played their part. The player of the tournament award went to South Ends' Megan Dibble. | |
