Skye Camanachd U14s are the 2008 North Division 1 Champions!
The Skye youngsters had topped the league since their final game against Lochaber in January and were waiting on other sides to complete their fixtures.
Glenurquhart U14s and Beauly U14s could have both equalled Skye’s points total and forced a play-off. To do this, both sides needed to win all their remaining matches. However one of their remaining games involved playing each other and when they met at Drum na Drochit on Saturday 7 March 2009, they drew 4-4. Beauly had led 4-2 but the Glen fought back to level the game. Neither side could score a winner, meaning that the trophy goes over the sea to Skye for the first time for several seasons.
This has been an extremely competitive league and right up to the closing games, any one of the five teams in the league could have been crowned champions. Skye will try and arrange a final match for the youngsters so that they can be presented with the league trophy and medals.
