Lochcarron regained the R MacRae Trophy to qualify as Wester Ross representatives for the P 6-7 National First Shinty Sixes Tournament.

The whole competion went down to the last match between Lochcarron and Auchtertyre. Lochcarron needed a win to qualify whilst Auchtertyre only need a draw. The match was level at 1-1 until almost the last hit of the ball when Mathew Young scored his second of the match to put a delighted Lochcarron through.

This was hard luck on Auchtertyre who had performed well throughout the evening. They lost some momentum after losing star player Angus Claxston following a nasty but accidental injury when he collided with a wall.  

The competition was held at Plockton High School on Friday 20 February 2009 and Lochcarrcarron now go forward to the National First Shinty Sixes in Fort William on Saturday 28 February 2009.
