12 February 2009 The Camanachd Association has released the adopted Bye Laws for “Competition for Children & Young People – Bye Law 4.” This follows a period of club consultation on the Youth Bye-Laws, and recommendations put forward to the Camanachd Association Board of Directors which met on Saturday 7 February 2009. The Camanachd Association intends to conduct a review of the Bye Law changes in November 2009. This will include a further process of consultation over the course of this year with regards to the age range of competitions and the wearing of helmets. The changes to Bye Law 4 include; o The Camanachd Association will promote, encourage and consent to the use of All-Weather 3rd Generation surfaces for youth shinty where the required pitch dimensions are appropriate for the level of competition.
o Rolling substitutes will be permitted in all Camanachd Association Youth Competitions, i.e. players taken off, can be put back on the field of play. A substitute may only be permitted to enter the field of play at the mid point of either side-line, during a stoppage in the game having received a signal of authorisation from the referee. o The number of substitutes has been increased for First Shinty matches, Development matches, Under 14 matches o The Ken MacMaster Cup competition shall be conducted on the basis of two sections with an even amount of teams in each section, with the winner of each section winning through to the National final. Sections shall be decided by CA Development staff following receipt of entries to this competition o The National Development Trophy is open to clubs / teams who do not participate within the Ken MacMaster Cup. Clubs with sufficient player resources may enter the Development Trophy as well as the Ken MacMaster Cup, but must submit a player pool of 10 named players to the Camanachd Association from the Ken MacMaster Cup team who cannot participate within the Development Trophy. o The Camanachd Association will discourage participation in the National Development Trophy from those teams that have evidenced sufficient development to allow them compete in the Ken MacMaster Cup competition. o The U17 London Shield competition is open to all clubs. Leagues will be structured on a geographical basis, with clubs being allocated to a particular league by Camanachd Association Development Staff. Qualifiers from the league structure shall compete in a knock out competition to determine the National League winners. o The U17 WJ Cameron Development Competition (9 players with up to 3 substitutes) is open to all clubs not participating in the London Shield competition. Leagues will be structured on a geographical basis, with clubs being allocated to a particular league by Camanachd Association Development Staff. o Qualifiers from the league structure shall compete in a knock out competition to determine the National League winners o A youth player (Under 17) within a club that are not able to field an Under 14 or Under 17 team within Youth League or Cup competitions shall be able to represent another team without the need of a transfer. Once a player participates within the league at youth level, then a transfer request would be required if that player then wished to play for another team. Once a player participates within Youth cup competitions then that player can not play for another team in that competition. |
