| Andy Irvine. | |
| 23 January 2009 Everyone at Skye Camanachd was sad to hear of the passing of former Kyles Athletic shinty star Andy Irvine. Andy was a fixture in the Kyles side for many years and represented the South and Scotland with distinction. His passing at the young age of 46 was indeed untimely and our deepest condolences go to his family and friends. Andy was a stand out for the Kyles team which lost 3-2 to Skye Camanachd in the 1979 Sutherland Cup Final when he had a great tussle with Skye's Willie Cowie. He was also an important member of the Kyles side which beat Fort William to win the 1994 Camanachd Cup and was awarded the Albert Smith medal for his man of the match performance in the final. His funeral will take place on Monday 26 January 2009 at 12 noon at the High Church in Dunoon. | |
