| Sharon Fraser and Professor Peter English. | |
| 08 January 2009 Everyone at Skye Camanachd was saddened to hear of the passing of Sharon Fraser and Professor Peter English. Sharon Fraser of Invergarry formerly held the position of Camanachd Association Youth Development Convener on the Camanachd Association’s Executive Committee and was one of the driving forces behind the development of Women’s shinty. Professor Peter English was a founder member of Aberdeen Camanachd and he also had strong links with the University side. He also had a lifelong connection with Glenurquhart Shinty Club and wrote a book to mark their centenary which detailed the history of the club. Professor English was one of the founding members of the Shinty Yearbook and he was editor from 1971-1976 and was a former Camanachd Association Vice President. He was laterly involved with shinty coahing sessions at Balnain Primary School. Professor English's funeral will be held at 10.30am at the Church of Scotland, Drumnadrochit on Saturday 10 January 2009 and thereafter to New Kilmore cemetery. | |
