The Camanachd Association, the governing body for shinty, has confirmed that the majority of the remaining league fixtures for the 2008 season will now not take place and all clubs involved have agreed to share the points.
Attempts to complete the season have been hampered by bad weather in recent weeks.
The exception to this will be the South Division 1 match between Ballachulish and Inveraray. This game, scheduled for Saturday 22nd November, will be played to enable Ballachulish to seek qualification for next season’s MacPhee & Partners Macaulay Cup competition. The club require 2 points to gain entry to this event.
David MacMaster, Director (Competitions) stated “The decision to round up the season has been taken after consultations with Marine Harvest, sponsors of the leagues and all relevant clubs. As all issues affecting both promotion and relegation have now been decided it has been agreed to share the points in the remaining matches and this will allow both players and officials time to begin their preparations for the 2009 season”.
