Scotland U17 Squad To Take On Ulster. | |
23 October 2008 The Camanachd Association has announced the Scotland U17 squad to take on Ulster in a shinty / hurling match at Mossfield Park, Oban on Saturday 1 November 2008. Camanachd Association Youth Development Manager, Garry Reid said, “The Scotland Under 17s select completes our programme at youth level, and signals the end of the youth pathway for some of these players. We have established a firm relationship with the Ulster GAA and with honours even over the past two years we are looking forward to this encounter and the on-going development with Ulster.” The Highland Shinty Development Officer, Ronald Ross knows that his side face a tough task. "The Scottish players will have to be at their very best, but there are good players in the squad and they just need to make sure they gel together as a team and work hard. I am confident that they will put on a good display of shinty.” The 20 man squad was selected from the recent North U17 v South U17 match at the Eilan, Newtonmore, which the North won 6-0. Strathglass forward Marc Mac Lauchlan wgo scored 4 in that match and Glenurquhart's Neal Reid who notched a double are both included. TThe Ulster squad is chosen from 6 counties. The Scotland squad consists of 13 players from the North and 7 from the South.
