Referee Donnie Fraser Announces Retirement. | |
16 October 2008 Well known shinty referee Donnie Fraser will stand down at the end of this season after 25 years refereeing at the very top of the game. Donnie has also been a prominent member of the Camanachd Referees Association and his retiral, coupled with the resignation of top referees Calum Duff and John "Spod" Macleod, will leave a major void in refereeing circles. Donnie refereed several Skye Camanachd games this season, including Skye's exciting 3-2 extra time Balliemore Cup semi final victory over Glenurquhart at Drum na Drochit - even if he did appear to play almost 25 minutes injury time, with Skye defending a slender lead! Joking aside, everyone at Skye Camanachd wishes Donnie a happy retirement and hope that his shinty expertise can be used to assist younger referees in the game. |
