In the Marine Harvest Premier League, Newtonmore gave themselves a great chance of finishing runners up to bitter rivals Kingussie with a 2-1 victory over Camanachd Cup winners Fort William at the Eilan. James Clark scored for the Fort but a Glen MacKintosh double won the day for the home side. This win leaves More just one point behind the Fort with three games still to play. Next up for them is a trip to bottom club Lovat on Saturday 18 October 2008. The Fort just has one fixture remaining.  

Lochaber’s bid for Marine Harvest Premier League survival has been put on hold for a week after their match at Inveraray was beaten by the weather.

In Marine Harvest North Division 1, Kilmallie inflicted a first league defeat of the season on champions Glenurquhart, with a 3-1 win at Canal Park. U17 star Neale Reid opened the scoring for the visitors but Fraser Massie levelled the match. Two goals in five minutes, just after the hour mark, from John Stewart and Trevor Jackson meant that the Glen just failed to go through their league campaign undefeated, losing their last match of the season. Kilmallie still have to visit Lochcarron in their last game.  

In Marine Harvest North Division 2, Caberfeidh leapfrog Lovat to sit third bottom following their single goal home victory over Kinlochshiel.Martin MacDonald was the scorer with a strike just before the interval.   

In Marine Harvest North Division 3, Glenurquhart’s second string fared better that their first team with a resounding 8-0 win at Inverness. Stewart Morrison continued his recent great goalscoring form with a hat-trick. Two more points will clinch the title although the Glen’s goal difference is such that one more point would probably suffice. Glenurquhart could clinch the title next Saturday when they make the trip to Ardnamurchan whilst Boleskine visit Lochcarron

All games in the south fell foul of the weather including the Mod Cup Final betwen Glasgow Mid Argyll and Aberdour.
