Kingussie Win Portree Highland Schools Girls' Event. | |
08 October 2008 Portree High School and Skye Camanachd successfully hosted the second round of the Highland Schools Girls' League on Wednesday 8 October 2008 at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. Despite a few squalls around noon, the weather was mild and sunny and a total of 9 teams took part - 3 from Portree itself. The tournament was won by Kingussie High School and they made it a double success when Kirsty Deans was named player of the tournament by referees Iain Nicolson, Shockie Maclennan and Jamie Paterson. Both prizes were presented by Ms Catherine MacDonald, headteacher of Portree High School. Portree A finished a very good 4th, with a hard fought draw against Kinlochleven, coming back from 1-0 down, a special highlight. Both Portree B & C performed well also, splitting 8th place. Thanks to all involved, especially Wilma MacRuary, Sarah Corrigal and Willie Cowie and Camanachd Association Development Officer Ronald Ross for helping the day run smoothly. |
