The North U17s completed a good day for North shinty when they defeated the South 6-0 to win the Peter Black Trophy at Newtonmore.
The trophy is played in memory of former Fort William president Peter Black, who was a great servant to Fort William and a great ambassador for shinty.
The North have dominated this event since it began in 1998, losing only once in 2001.
Strathglass forward Marc MacLauchlan opened the scoring for the North after 8 minutes but controversy was to follow moments later when South defender John Hill from Oban Celtic was sent off for handling a goal bound effort on the line. MacLauchlan fired the resultant penalty over the bar. However he atoned after 21 minutes when he doubled the North lead.
There was some confusion over the half time score as some on the touchline claimed MacLauchlan also had the ball in the net after 12 minutes but referee Deek Cameron was adamant that the half time score was 2-0.
The South were very aggrieved by the first half sending off and in the interests of having a competitive second half, the North agreed to the South replacing Hill to restore their side to 12 players again.
However the North continued where they let off and MacLauchlan completed his hat-trick in 48 minutes.
Glenurquhart's Neale Reid made it four after 54 minutes and the same player scored again with a great low strike into the bottom corner of the net.
MacLauchlan completed the scoring after 72 minutes and if it had not been for some good goalkeeping from Oban Camanachd's Allan Duncan for the South, the winning margin could have been greater.
Skye's Shockie MacLennan played most of the match at wing centre and he didn't look out of place amongst a quality North side.
Kinlochshiel's John MacRae and Lochcarron's Calum Finlayson also put in good performances.
North captain Conor Cormack from Beauly was presented with the Peter Black Trophy by Fort William youth coach Jock Sneddon.
