Kings Make It 18 Straight Wins. | |
04 October 2008 Kingussie made it a magnificant 18 straight wins as they beat Fort William 3-1 on Saturday 4 October 2008. The match was originally to be played at An Aird but was switched to the Dell because of the condition of the Fort William pitch. After a goalless first half, Drew Ferguson gave the Fort the lead 5 minutes into the second half. Kingussie started the match with Ronald Ross playing in defence. However they pushed Ross up front with 20 minutes remaining and the switch paid immediate dividends. Kevin Thain levelled the game moments later and the same player gave Kingussie the lead 2 minutes later from the penalty spot after Ronald Ross was taken out in the box by Neil Robertson. Ronald Ross clinched this really exciting match and the Kings impressive 100% league record 4 minutes from the end. Kingussie will undoubtedly still be hurting from their Camanachd Cup defeat to the Fort William but they can still take considerable pride from winning the Marine Harvest National Premier League with 18 straight wins from their 18 league matches.
